Italian Day in Bristol Borough drew a large crowd on Saturday, regardless of the constant threat of rain it faced.
Italian Day itself is a result of a number of volunteers and the Bristol Lions Club. Each year, the organization and individuals come together to create an event that attracts thousands of people to Bristol’s Wharf.

Melissa Paolini and Mike Wambach are two of the members of the Bristol Lions Club and volunteers for Italian Day.
For 10 years, Paolini and Wambach have been involved in bringing Italian Day to life. This year, they were volunteering at the blow up slides, collecting tickets and watching kids.
“I enjoy the people, the festivities. I love the excitement on kid’s faces,” Paolini revealed.

According to Paolini, the cultural events of which Italian Day is a part, are a great attraction for Bristol and getting people into the town to see what the historic town has to offer.
“Hopefully we will have a great turnout,” Paolini said early in the day, while rain still loomed.

Paolini and Wambach looked back and thought about their most memorable year, the year when the Italian Day festival garnered nearly 6,000 people.
By late afternoon, thousands of people filled the festival, enjoying the vendors and entertainment.
In Bristol Borough, a filled Mill Street parking lot can mean a lot of things, but on Saturday the filled parking lot meant defiance of the weather and wide community support of the Bristol Lions Club and Italian Day.
