The Middletown Township Board of Supervisors unanimously ruled in favor of awarding the 2015 Road Program Bid to James C. Morrissey Inc. last week.
The total cost awarded to the Philadelphia company adds up to $1,676,095 dollars total and a total of 45 roads will be paved, ranging from Old Lincoln Highway through Wood Lane and N. Flowers Mill Road. The plan will cover 11 miles of township-owned road surface.

โThe James Morrissey group is fully capable of doing a job like this,โ said Pat Duffy, director of zoning for Middletown Township, โTheyโve been a great contractor in Middletown for years.โ
The group plans on issuing a notice to proceed in the next week and once Morrissey Inc. tackles the job Duffy said that they anticipate them being finished in 30-45 days.
โThere are a total of 45 roads and theyโre scattered all over the township so weโd expect the project to be done by September,โ Duffy stated.

Most of the work for the roads will be milling and paving, where they will take off the top inch and a half from the road and replace the top as well as any other weathered spots on the roads.
Duffy said, according to the new contract, that the company will give a weekโs notice in regards to construction and that they will not stop traffic and only insists that you do not park in the street on the roads being worked on at the time.

Township Manager Stephanie Teoli Kuhls believes the road program bid, though a slight inconvenience in the beginning, will be well worth the final product.
โI think this is good news for residents. Weโre spending 1.6 million dollars on roadway improvements and this is all part of an overall effort to improve infrastructure in our community,โ she said.
โSo while there may be some minor inconveniences while the work is being completed, it certainly will be well worth it in terms of ease for traveling over the roads and positive impact of property value.โ
