Police remarked in theirย investigation that aย blue VW Jetta, driven by Pietzsch, rear-ended a silver Toyota Camry in the westbound travel lanes. The Camry was then pushed into the eastbound lanes, striking a green Mercury.ย The crash, which shut down the intersection for several hours,ย seriously injured the driver of the Toyota Camry, who is also a Langhorne resident.

According to the probable cause affidavit, during the course of the investigation, officers believed Pietzsch to be under the influence of alcohol while driving.ย Police noted in court documents Pietzsch seemed unable to perform roadside sobriety tests to the standard of investigating officers and blew a .28 BAC in a breath test. The Pennsylvania legal limit is .08.
