Atkins, a native of Levittown’s Farmbrook section, owns and operates the Levittown Miracle Ear – Park Plaza Shopping Center,ย 1049 Oxford Valley Road –ย along with the Bensalem location – 250 Rockhill Drive. He has been in the hearing aid business for 25 years after buying the Lower Bucks County Miracle Ear franchise from Joe Caparella in 1990.
This year, Atkins will celebrate 25 successful years as a Miracle Ear owner.
In recognitionย of the accomplishment, and as a way to thank their faithful customers, the Levittown and Bensalem locations will be offering many discounts, deals and sweet eats for customers through the end of this week. Atkins also said those who mention the sales and receive a hearing test will receive a $10 CVS gift card as an added bonus.

Atkins knows all too well the experience of hearing loss. He learned at a young age that he had abnormal bone growth in his ear, which caused problems and led him to a hearing device from Caparella. After a successful career as a counselor at the Bucks County Correction Facility, Atkins decided to take a plunge and begin training as a hearing specialist.
Now, his two offices are known by customers for their exceptional friendly service. His wife, two children and sister, Verna Morris, are all involved in his business. His son, Dr. Kyle Atkins, graduated with his doctorate in Audiology from Bloomsburg University and works out of the Bensalem store.

His daughter, Katie Carnevale works to put out a quarterly newsletter that keeps customers up to date. The newsletter has made customers feel like part of the Atkins family.
As evidence of Atkins’ top-shelf customer service, the franchise has won several top awards over the past few years. Atkins said he was proud to be awarded the first place customer service award from the company, which has 1,200 stores.

From friendly staff to well-organized offices, the two Lower Bucks County Miracle Ear stores operated by Atkins exude the friendly small town feel of years past.

“It’s like an old fashioned business,” Atkins said, adding that a large group of his customers learn about his stores through word of mouth. “We have 25 years experience and we all compliment each other. People trust us for that,” he said.
Over the quarter century Atkins has been helping those with hearing loss, he has seen the business change dramatically.

While the service aspects remain the same, hearing devices have become smaller, more obscure and easier to use. Some devices Atkins has in stock allow users to control the direction and volume with a smartphone app.
One of the easiest ways you can tell you might need to get a hearing exam is if another points out how loud your television is.

“That’s a big one,” Atkins said. “That is how a lot of people know they’re having a problem.”
“There is no doubt what we have to offer for customers will increase the range of their personal soundscape. And if youโre like me, really wanting to hear what my children and grandchildren have to say, Miracle Ear will make that happen.”
