The Pennsbury Education Foundation (PEF) recently awarded a total of eight grants to schools across the Pennsbury School District, totaling over $13,000. The PEF is a 501(c)(3) organization that relies on donations and supports the purpose of improving teaching and learning in Pennsbury through innovative educational initiatives. Grants are awarded through an application process that occurs twice each year.

The following grant recipients were announced:
Pennsbury High School Principal Lisa Becker and Applied Engineering/Technology Education teacher Jessica Perfetto – $2,495 to fund the purchase of router equipment for Pennsbury High School;

Walt Disney Elementary Principal Laurie Gafgen and Math Specialist Natalie Costanzo – $1,100 to purchase one interactive board;
Fallsington Elementary Principal Brian Shaffer and teacher Holly Foran – $1,100 to purchase one interactive board;

Penn Valley Elementary Principal Barbara Hidalgo and teacher Betty Zubrzycki – $3,300 to fund a one-year subscription to Study Island software for Penn Valley students;
Oxford Valley Elementary Principal Fran Nitkin and teacher David Robbins – $600 to fund the Rock, Mineral and Fossil show and โdigโ for Oxford Valley students;
Makefield Elementary Principal Donna McCormick-Miller and teacher Colleen Gallagher – $1,079.85 to fund the purchase of Scholastic Guided Reading books for Makefield students;

Edgewood Elementary Principal Michele Spack and teacher Beth Golder – $3,000 to fund the Bright Space project for Edgewood students;
William Penn Middle School Principal Paul Meehan and teacher Blair Greiner – $349.54 to fund the SOAR sculpture project at William Penn.

In addition to gathering generous donations from local funding sources and individual donors, the PEF also participates in the PA Department of Community and Economic Developmentโs Educational Improvement Tax Credit Program, which awards tax credits to businesses making contributions to the PEF.
