A group of candidates in Bristol Borough are not pleased their sign was vandalized to show what appear to be arrows attached to it.

A sign for cross-filed Bristol School Board incumbent candidates Jeffrey J. Paleafico, Mary Jane Potena and Nunzio DeMarchis received the strange vandalism in the past 10 days. The sign was placed on a utility pole on Wood Street and had a board with seven arrow tails and a pink substance running from the points of entry attached.

Paleafico told LevittownNow.com he is not sure if the vandalism is a threat or a piece of artwork. He added that vandalism to election signs is not proper.

“The pink looks like blood and that made my daughter upset,”  he said.

DeMarchis said he saw the vandalism is as a sign his competition in the primary is worried, but said he had no proof anyone affiliated with the opposing candidates was involved.

“I just can’t be sure,” he said, adding that he felt the vandalism was a threat.

In recent weeks, several different candidates in the borough have had their signs damaged or removed, but the arrows were the first reported vandalism of that type.

“It’s just Bristol politics at its finest,” wrote the emailer who originality reported the sign to LevittownNow.com last week.

The sign was reported to law enforcement for investigation.

Bristol politics are notorious for being heated and nasty. From verbal altercations at government meetings to threats against reporters, the borough has a history of intense politics.

Steven Cullen, Jopseph T. Adamson, John Doyle, Charles Groff, Bethanne M. Oczak and Joseph Caro are all cross-filed and will be listed on the ballot for Tuesday’s primary.
