About 230 participants joined forces in Bristol Borough on Saturday to beautify and clean up the town.

“This clean-up was even better than last year for several reasons. We had broader based participation in term of volunteers, we also reached more neighborhoods. Finally, it seemed that the town was cleaner when we started than it was last year. It was a great, high spirited day,” Bill Pezza of Bristol Borough: Raising the Bar said.

The volunteers gathered at the wharf at 9 a.m., received their shirts, if they ordered them and went off in groups to their chosen or assigned area of the borough and began cleaning up.

“I think it is a great community event. It’s great to support the community together,” said resident Stephanie Croquez.

The new owners of the King George II Inn were among the volunteers out and about trying to make a difference in the area. “We’re excited to be a part of the local community,” said Robert Strasser, one of the co-owners.

“We’re just out here cleaning the park and trying to make the park better for everyone,” Strasser explained as six representatives from the King George II Inn worked on the rocks nearby the wharf.

Throughout the day, volunteers could be seen throughout the entire borough doing their best to make it more beautiful and livable for visitors and residents alike.
