Bristol Borough police allege they arrived on the 300 block of Taft Street in Bristol shortly before 5 p.m. on Sunday for reports of an assault.

According to court documents, the 27-year-old man’s girlfriend alleged he met her at her mother’s house severely intoxicated and wanting to talk. When she refused to speak with him while holding their 18 month old son, 27-year-old man became “irate” and began to yell and use profanity.

The 27-year-old man then ripped his son from her hands, placing him on the ground before he pulled his girlfriend’s hair and pushed her to the ground, according to a police narrative.

The woman told police that the 27-year-old man slapped her with an open hand before leaving the property. Police recorded in court documents she had scratch marks on her arms and back and a red and swollen left eye.

According to police record, multiple witnesses corroborated the victim’s story.

The 27-year-old man, who was charged in April 2014 by Falls Township police for an assault, awaits a preliminary hearing continuance with District Judge Frank Peranteau Sr. on May 27. He sits in jail on 10 percent of $25,000 bail.
