The Carry The Load national relay came through Lower Bucks County on Thursday.
The convoy of walkers and their travel team were welcomed with a town-wide celebration in Yardley before making stops in Langhorne and Bensalem. From there, the group will continue to Dallas, Texas and arrive in time for Memorial Day.

At their stop at Langhorne-Middletown Fire Company on Maple Avenue, organizer Wes Conner and other Carry the Load team members relaxed for a bit and enjoyed dinner before continuing on their trek.
Conner said the relay, which started earlier this week in West Point, New York crosses 200 municipalities and has 348 stops along the way, including the heart of Washington D.C. next week.
“We hit the same stops every year to see our friends, like here in Langhorne,” he said.

The group aims to bring Memorial Day back to a day where Americans honor those who served the country and not just a day to party. Conner said they are not just honoring the military but also police, firefighters and medics.
“We realize that you may never walk a mile in one of our nation’s heroes’ shoes, but you do have the opportunity to walk along side them to honor what they’ve done,” the group’s website states.

Langhorne Mayor Joe Taylor, also assistant chief of the fire company, said he was honored to have the borough participate again in the Carry the Load relay.
Conner said the reception the group has had is impressive and the weather is better than in years past.
Over the course of the relay, Conner said the group expects between 30,000 and 40,000 to participate in Cary the Load.
