A mother from Wisconsin has filed a $5 million lawsuit against the Middletown-based Pop Warner youth football organization.
WDAZ-TV reports Debra Pyka blames her son’s years of playing the “combat sport” with the league for his suicide at the age of 25.

“The suit said Joseph Chernach played in the league for four years, starting as an 11-year-old, and suffered concussions that were not diagnosed at the time. The suit said he developed dementia pugilistica, also known as chronic traumatic encephalopathy, and post-concussion syndrome,” the TV station article said.
“Other parents out there should know what happened to my son and be aware of all the dangers and symptoms,” Debra Pyka told NBC News in an interview. “I don’t want to see this happen to anyone else’s child.”
