Students stood on the snow-covered yard of Eleanor Roosevelt Elementary School in Falls Township last Friday cheering on their classmates partaking in “Super Duper Bowl V.”
Before the afternoon gridiron showdown, the school took part in a “penny war” with all the funds raised going to the family of Kate Galdi, a beloved Pennsbury teacher who recently lost her battle with cancer.

The students took part in a pep rally that featured the Phillie Phanatic before the fifth-grade students faced off on the field.
Each fifth-grade class created their own team name and mascot using their homeroom teacher’s name as inspiration.The team names are: the Miller Mean Machine, the Kean Kongs, the Melnick Mashers, the Janthor Panthers, and the D’Amico Dragons.
The contest gave students the chance to practice good sportsmanship which ties in with the school’s character education initiative of teaching and showing respect, kindness, responsibility and cooperation.

Students throughout the school, which is led by Principal Elizabeth Aldridge, collected canned goods that will be delivered to the Family Services Association Homeless Shelter in Levittown in conjunction with the “Children Helping Children in Need” campaign. The Levittown-Fairless Hills Rotary and Waste Management Inc. sponsored the event.
