Residents of Bristol Homeless Camp Relocated

Volunteers from the Warming Hearts Project have successfully relocated 10 people who were living in a wooded lot in the area of Route 13 and Commerce Boulevard in Bristol Borough.

Eight of the camp residents were relocated to an undisclosed location in Bristol and two are now living in Bensalem, according to Warming Hearts Project leader and Bristol Borough businessman Joe Nocito.

The group of homeless people were moved by the time cold temperatures whipped into the area Wednesday evening and before Bristol Borough police evicted the people from the property at the request of its owner.

Nocito said a 25-foot-long moving truck was donated by a Mill Street business. The truck was needed to volunteers could move the belongings of the people living throughout the woods.

Homeless locals and volunteers working to help them have said the emergency shelter in Levittown is full and currently has a waiting list.

Brian Tanner, 50, who was living in the woods, said the waiting list for the shelter is six weeks.

Nocito said over 80 people are set to help the Warming Hearts Project sort through various donations from the homeless this weekend.

62-year-old Sandra, a North Carolina native who recently lost her Levittown apartment after she couldn’t make rent, said the community has been very helpful.

“This is the help people like us need, and it’s great.”
