Here are todayโs Letters to the Editorsโฆ
Submitted byย Eleanor Guerriero of Levittown:
Congressman Fitzpatrick’s opinion piece, 8-29, derides the short term infrastructure funding bill that Congress recently passed and which he voted for. The temporary Bill (367-55) funds until 2015 and allows companies to defer some pension contribution. Deferring pension contributions is a time bomb. The Congressman is sponsoring a bill called Partnership To Build America. It promised long term infrastructure funding at no cost to the public. All money, 750 billion dollars, will come from repatriated corporate earnings. If Fitzpatrick thinks those big time tax cheats, like Apple and G.E. will rush to bring them money back to America he is more optimistic than most Americans. The cheaters don’t show an ounce of patriotism, even when lured by lower taxes to bring back their money. We need to pass a long term infrastructure bill that will create jobs and make our highways and bridges safe. Waiting for corporations with overseas money to give a hoot about America is like waiting for Charlie Manson to become a Boy Scout.

The Bucks County Technical High School Alumni is coming together to participate in the City of Hope’s 2014 Women’s Cancer Walk on September 13th. Right now, I have 4 registered walkers. We need the help of Bucks County to raise as much money as possible. The money raised goes to the City of Hope, Philadelphia Branch, to continue research and development. Also, anyone in Bucks County is more than welcome to join our team…the more, the better! Members of the county can donate money online as well. Right now I only have $150 raised (mailed the checks Friday). Bucks County Technical High School has been partnering with the City of Hope the past couple of years through our Hope Cuts Event with current enrolled students. If Levittown remembers, they helped us become the number one fundraiser in the COUNTRY for the City of hope last year. This is now our way, as graduates of the high school, and as members of the bucks county region, regardless of high school, to give back to this wonderful cancer research institution.
Here is the link for the walk information: http://nationalevents.cityofhope.org/site/TR?fr_id=2330&pg=entry
Here is the link for our team information: http://nationalevents.cityofhope.org/site/TR/Walk2014/WalkforHope?team_id=43791&pg=team&fr_id=2330
Under that team link, to donate money towards our team, you would need to click on someones name that is participating, then on the right hand tool bar there is a link that says “Support ____” and you would click that link. To Join our team, you would click “Shane White” and on the right hand side under the picture there is another link that says “Join Shane’s Team”.
