Many of the most serious charges filed against a 44-year-old man accused of stealing money during a drug sting were dropped last week.

During Robert Garcia’s short court appearance before District Judge Jan Vislosky, prosecutors dropped charges of controlled substance, criminal use of a communication facility, dealing in proceeds of unlawful activities, receiving stolen property and obstruction of the administration of law. Charges of theft by unlawful taking, driving the wrong way and fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer were held for trial.

The reason the charges were dropped was not stated in court and Garcia was set free on $50,000 unsecured bail after the hearing.
Garcia was nabbed after Lower Makefield police say he stole between $100 and $200 dollars from an informant during a arranged heroin deal inside a auto garage in the 900 block of Old Lincoln Highway in Falls Township last month.
The informant set up the deal with Garcia earlier on the phone, according to court papers. Police noted Garcia even bragged about being wanted by authorities in the county.

According to police, the informant said he felt uncomfortable during the deal.
Garcia rode away on his bicycle after taking the money, police said. They added the 44-year-old rode the wrong way down Old Lincoln Highway for around a quarter of a mile before heading into the woods as police chased him.
A detective captured Garcia as he came out of the wooded area.
