The Tullytown Borough Council voted this week to hire a new police officer and sell an old police car.

Council approved the hiring of new part-time police officer Daniel Hartman, who is a Bloomsburg University graduate and former Tullytown Police Department intern. Officials said the additional officer would help alleviate scheduling stress for the borough’s police department.

The vehicle’s minimum bid will start at $1,000, officials said. As of Thursday morning, the vehicle was not yet listed on MunciBid.

Also at the meeting, Mayor David Cutchineal said he is working with Police Chief Daniel Doyle to produce a program for the borough television channel about the growing heroin epidemic in Bucks County. The program is expected to feature several experts speaking about the problem.
