Traffic restrictions on Route 1 and Maple Avenue (Route 213) have been announced for Friday night and Saturday morning.

According to Middletown Township officials, overhead bridge construction will close the northbound right lane on Route 1 between South Bellevue Avenue and I-95 from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Saturday. The right lane on Maple Avenue between North Flowers Mill Road and South Flowers Mills Road will be closed at the same time.

The work is part of a project to replace the three-span, pre-stressed box beam bridge over Maple Avenue. The reconstruction project will realign the Route 1 ramps to Maple Avenue, resurface the roadway approaches and ramps, install glare screens on the median barrier and upgrade drainage systems.

During the project, the speed limit along the highway was been reduced in the work zone.

The work on the project should be done by October 2014.
