Residents have asked the Bristol Township School Board for a long time to broadcast their meetings for those who can’t make it. That’s all about to change.
The district has been testing out options in recent weeks to provide audio recording of the meeting on their website for the public to review. Officials are even working to get the audio to stream on the district television station.

The audio is a far cry from the video coverage that some other area school and township boards have, but it’s a step the district has undertaken to let residents be more informed.
District Superintent Dr. Samuel Lee said last week the district’s technical staff is working on kinks in the recordings and hopes to begin broadcasting the meetings sometime early in the new year.
One of the problems, Lee said, is the sound quality. Board members now have to be louder and speak closer to the microphones for their comments to be picked up.

Another problem is time. Lee said district technical staff have find the time to upload the meeting audio to the district website.
At previous board meetings, residents have asked for video recording. However, board officials have said that option in just too expensive for the cash-strapped district, which serves all of the township’s 54,000 residents.
