Local seniors were pleased by the annual holiday dinner held for them last week by the Pennsbury High School Interact Club.
The annual dinner featured performances by the Pennsbury Strings, the Pennsbury Dance Team Chamber Choir and Falconairs.

As the roughly 175 diners chowed down on turkey, mashed potatoes and other fixings, the Pennsbury Strings performed beautiful music. Students from the Catering Club, Girls Basketball and Boys Track helped the Interact Club serve and clean up after the seniors.
“This is just great. The kids helping and everything. It’s great,” said an older man who had just finish a generous portion of turkey.
English teacher Breanne Cook advised the Interact Club, which is affiliated with the Levittown-Fairless Hills Rotary club, and said the students can learn a lot from the dinner. She noted they get work with the elderly, who they may have very little interaction with in their day-to-day activities at or outside of school.

“I have seen kids just grab a plate and sit down next to a senior citizen and have a meal with them,” she said, adding the conversation usually starts with something simple.
The food for the event was donated by Metz Culinary Management, the district’s food service provider.
