State troopers lead an upset looking Montgomery County woman into Feasterville district court Tuesday evening, television cameras recording her every step. Moments later, she was formally arraigned on criminal charges of leaving the scene of a crash involving serious bodily injury, aggravated assault by motor vehicle, simple assault, reckless endangerment and several other serious offenses.

According to state police, Flourtown resident Holly Anne Alsentzer, 25, was behind the wheel of an SUV when she cause a serious crash on the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Upper Southampton on Sunday night. The crash left two middle-aged adults and two young girls, ages 7 and 9, hurt. Assistant District Attorney Matt Hoover said the 7-year-old girl suffered the most serious injuries in the crash.

Alsentzer, who works in the financial service industry, is accused of hitting the white Range Rover the four family members were occupying after swerving lanes at what witnesses told police was a “high rate of speed.” According to court papers, the Range Rover went down a 60-foot embankment and scanner reports indicate that at least one person was thrown from the vehicle.

Police say Alsentzer’s SUV spun out and sat on the roadway. Moments later, according to witness statements to investigators, she made a U-turn and sped away. A good “Samaritan” tried to follow and lost Alsentzer’s vehicle after speeds reached 90 MPH, Hoover said in court Tuesday night.

According to an affidavit of probable cause, Alsentzer called state police the day after the incident an admitted she was driver of the vehicle involved in the crash. She also admitted to fleeing the scene, police said.

The car was found at a body shop in Cheltenham after the crash.

Fire crews from around Upper Southampton raced to the crash site Sunday night and were forced to stop nearby train traffic as they helped the victims. The accident caused delays on the busy highway throughout the evening.

The 25-year-old’s mother quietly sat in the back of the courtroom as her daughter sat upfront in cuffs and quickly left after.

Alsentzer was remanded to county jail on 10 percent of $500,000 cash bail following her arraignment.
