The township pays about $600,000 in electric costs and another $200,000 for maintenance yearly.ย The new system would dispose of ย a decadeโs worth of maintenance costs during the duration of the systems warranty, the manager said.
Johan Becker, Philipsโ director of business development, said the benefits of the system includes increased safety in streets; ย light status ย feedback in real time; accurate metering and ย reduced energy costs saying theย system would save the township about 55 percent in energy costs for the life of the deal.
McCauley anticipates purchasing the lights and the equipment before March because of a deadline to spend casino grant funds. The project should be completed sometime next fall, officials said.
