After Local West Nile Death, County to Spray for Mosquitoes in Croydon

Just days after state officials reported that a Bucks County man died from West Nile Virus, county officials announced they would spray for mosquitoes in Croydon on Wednesday evening.

Crews will treat the following roads: Emily, Wyoming, Excelsior, Miller, Delaware, Ray, Maryland and Cedar avenues, Anne Street and Rosa Avenue – all East of State Road. Several streets in Morrisville will also be sprayed.

The chemical Duet will be dispersed using an ultra low volume truck mounted sprayer at a rate of .75 to one ounce per acre. A green Chevrolet truck with the County of Bucks seal on the side will be used. Crews will also use a Ford Ranger pickup with the county seal.

Since the middle of summer, more than 10 mosquitoes tested in the Levittown area have returned positive results for West Nile Virus. Several sprays have taken place throughout the area.
