UPDATED: Bank Robbery Spree Suspect Tried to Rob Bank Before, Cops Say

One could assume 26-year-old New Jersey man Luke Radick, who is accused of trying to rob three banks in Lower Bucks County on Thursday, is desperate, or doesn’t mind the inside of a jail cell.

Radick was collared after a manhunt by multiple police agencies on Thursday afternoon. His most recent arrest came just a day after he was released from county jail on 10 percent of $15,000 bail after being arrested by Lower Southampton police over the weekend for allegedly passing a bad check in May, court records show.

A 26-year-old only made off with a “small amount” of money from one bank, Bensalem police said. He fled the other two banks before he got any cash.

Here’s a timeline of the afternoon’s events, based upon information from police:

• 12:15 p.m.:  Sovereign Bank, 1425 Street Road, Bensalem. Radick entered the bank and presented a note demanding money. Bank staff ran from their stations and Radick ran away without any cash.
• 12:50 p.m.: Sovereign Bank, 95 South Main Street, Yardley. A demand note asking the tellers to raise their hands and give him money was presented by Radick. A teller handed him a small amount of money before he fled out of the bank. It was later discovered the demand note was written on the back of Radick’s bail release form.
• Around 2 p.m.: Wells Fargo, 2 East Bridge Street, Morrisville: Radick gave a teller a note calling for the teller to put money into an envelope. At that time, the teller moved away from her station and Radick fled.

Radick got from bank to bank so quickly because he used a cab hired from a local company. Police said the driver realized what was happening during the final robbery and fully cooperated with investigators.

Before the Morrisville robbery, Bensalem police already knew the bank robber was Radick, they said. Surveillance pictures were compared against a mugshot of the 26-year-old to confirm his identity.

Bensalem, Morrisville, Yardley, Lower Southampton, the FBI and several other agencies kept their eyes open for the suspect. Sharp-eyed Morrisville Officer Justin Bickhart and Bensalem officers spotted a man matching Radick’s description in the borough and took him into custody. By 4:05 p.m., an FBI official confirmed to LevittownNow.com the man was Radick.

In 2009, Radick was sent to jail for four years for a trying to rob a bank in upstate Pennsylvania. He carried a shotgun in the attempt and was stopped by special double security doors, the Pocono Record reported at the time.

While going into court, video on NBC10.com shows Radick telling reporters he was sorry he got caught.

Radick was arraigned at 8 p.m. on robbery and other charges. He was sent to county jail on 10 percent of $ million. Police said the FBI will be looking at adopting this case for federal charges.

The robbery spree comes days after two bank robberies in Bensalem.

Joseph Coraluzzi, 32, of Philadelphia, and Deana Paulik, 24, of Cherry Hill, N.J., were caught Wednesday by police on charges they robbed the Fulton Bank branch on Street Road also on Tuesday. Coraluzzi was captured in New Jersey and is awaiting extradition to Bensalem.

Homeless man Frank D. Hicks, 35, is accused of robbing the TD Bank on Street Road on just hours after the Fulton hit. He ran and was later arrested by police. He was released from prison after serving time for 6 bank robberies in Philadelphia.
