The fire that destroyed an vacant boat at the abandoned Three Seasons Marina in Bristol Township’s Croydon section Sunday evening has been ruled an arson, according to Fire Marshal Kevin Dippolito.

Firefighters at the Croydon Fire Company and local residents noticed a heavy amount of smoke coming from the marina at around 6:30, and fire crews responded to the scene.

Croydon Fire Company Chief Tom Tryon said arriving firefighters found the upside down boat and some debris burning. The flames were quickly put out, he added.

Responding crews had trouble getting to the fire because a car blocked one point of entry and the other was difficult to go through due to overgrown plants, Tryon said, adding that one fire truck suffered minor damage as it entered the abandoned property.

The boat was between 20 and 25 feet long, officials said.

In recent years, the former marina on the Neshaminy Creek has become a haven for vandalism. Several boats and debris remain left behind.
