Crews from Oprah Winfrey’s television network were at the Ready Aim Fire off Route 13 in Bristol Township on Monday.

The production involved about a dozen Bucks County-area women who took part in a shooting class at the gun range, which is normally closed on Mondays. Camera crews from the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) filmed the class from morning until the afternoon. Television host Lisa Ling was present for the filming.

The production team arrived in unmarked vehicles and have been in the Philadelphia area, according to a source close to production, filming the documentary for the past week.

Ready Aim Fire owner Joe McGinty said members from the Kitchen Table Patriots, a Tea Party group in Bucks County, wanted to hold a gun class for women and got in contact with an instructor.

“It’s group of housewives that want to learn what it’s all about,” McGinty said, citing that woman now make up 30 to 40 percent of his business compared to about 10 percent two years ago. He said he encourages those who want to learn about guns and how to be safe while using them to come to his range.

Kitchen Table Patriots founder Anastasia Przybylski said Tuesday that she couldn’t speak about specifics of the OWN shoot due to a disclosure agreement she signed, but she confirmed that 15 local women took part in the filmed class.

“I’ve never thought to buy or shoot a gun,” Przybylski said. She added that her mind changed recently and her desire has come from all the controversy over gun rights.

McGinty said he sees a lot of new customers who are curious how to operate a firearm, which he says is like any other tool and users need training.

Przybylski said although she was “scared” to shoot a gun before, the class was informative.

The class will be part of an episode of “Our America with Lisa Ling,” which is expected to run when the fifth season begins in early 2014.

The program, which enjoyed a ratings increase last year, has previously produced episodes on the lives of freed registered sex offenders, heroin in rural America, amateur porn, Native Americans, swingers and more.

Crews from the series were conducting filming at the Philadelphia Police Department on Tuesday, according to a source.
