According to an affidavit of probable cause, police were dispatched to the house the man shares with his fiance at 5:24 a.m. after she called to report he left their 3-year-old son home alone. His fiance told officers she works overnight in Hamilton, N.J. and came home from work on April 21 about 5 hours early to find he was gone and the toddler was asleep in his bed, police said.

The 30-year-old’s fiance told police he did not tell her where he was and that his car was missing from Evertide Lane home.

The man arrived home “sometime thereafter” and told his fiance he went out for the night, police said. He acknowledged he made a mistake, according to court documents, and said he was sorry.

The man’s fiance was concerned because she does not believe it was the first time he left the child alone, police said.

He was arrested on April 30, which was also his birthday, according to a court filing.

The man was not sent to jail and is set to have a preliminary hearing before District Judge Jan Vislosky in June.
