Harry S. Truman High School students, staff and parents have a reason to be “flattered” and excited”, Superintendent Dr. Samuel Lee said on Monday.
The reason: Truman was recently ranked among the top in the nation by U.S. News & World Report.

The school was recognized with a bronze medal, which is given to high-performing schools based on a review of state exam performance.
Here’s the scores the magazine gave to Truman:
- National Rank: Bronze
- College Readiness Index: 9.6
- Math Proficiency: 2.8
- Reading Proficiency: 2.9
- Student/Teacher Ratio:11:1
“The ranking is a tribute to the kids, family and staff at Truman,” Lee said.

The school, which has over 1,600 students, has approximately 90 percent of its high school class go onto post-secondary schooling. A majority of the rest go to serve in the armed forces or join the workforce, Lee said.
“A good high school education is vital to preparing a student for moving on to college or to entering the workforce,” said Brian Kelly, editor and chief content officer of U.S. News & World Report.

Bristol Borough, Bucks County Technical, Neshaminy and Pennsbury high schools did not make U.S. News & World Report’s ranking.
