Minion Blimp Cruises Over Levittown

The big green object over Levittown Thursday night wasn’t a UFO. It was “Despicablimp,” a blimp featuring a Minion character from the recent film “Despicable Me 2.”

The 165-foot blimp is on a promotional tour across the nation and has been spotted from Harrisburg to Philadelphia over the past week. The airship was launched in March in support of the release of the film, which has gone to gross more than $800 million worldwide.

The blimp is lit by two 1,000-watt blubs.

In case you don’t have any little ones at home to tell you, Minions are yellow, cylindrical creatures that populate the Despicable Me film serious, staring Steve Carell and  Kristen Wiig.

Universal Pictures recently announced the Minions will star in their own movie next year.

The footage of the Minion blimp was taken Thursday night by local videographer Ron Roberts.
