The woman seriously hurt Wednesday night when her red car slammed into the back of a tractor-trailer along Lower Morrisville Road in Falls Township appears to be making a recovery.

Nicole Rexrode, 25, of Morrisville, suffered a broken leg, ankle and a collapsed lung, Lt. Hank Ward said late Thursday night. “She is expect to make a full recovery,” he added.

Lt. Todd Pletnick said officers have not yet determined why the woman slammed into the back of the truck, owned by Atlas Moving Company and driven by a local man. Officers said they found no skid marks, which imply braking, at the site of the crash.

Police say texting is among many possible causes of the accident that they are investigating.

Ward said they are waiting for Rexrode to feel a bit better before interviewing her about the crash.

Fire crews from several companies spent 45 minutes cutting Rexrode from the mangled remains of the car. She was taken by a Morrisville-based ambulance to Helene Fuld Trauma Center in Trenton.
